Position: Staff Accountant

High Line develops implements and supports a full featured Human Resources / Payroll / Self Service application to corporations and public entities across North America. Our customer base ranges from 300 employees to 30000 employees in all aspects of public and private enterprise.

Job Description:

We have an immediate opening for a Staff Accountant to join our team.

Reporting to the Controller, the responsibilities will be, but not limited to:

Accounts Payable: Full Cycle

  • Sort, verify and code invoices and requisitions for goods and services
  • Inter-company accounting of expenses and invoice preparation
  • Data Entry and reconciliations in AccPac
  • Verify transactions comply with financial policies/procedures
  • Prepare and process manual accounts payable checks
  • Reconciliation of payments and forecasting of future disbursements
  • Processing of employee expenses
  • Prepare analysis of accounts
  • Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies
  • Vendor file maintenance
  • Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries
  • Produce monthly reports
  • Month end closing with tasks completed within a set deadline
  • Filing
  • Perform other related duties as required

Account Receivable, Contract Administration:  Full Cycle

  • Audits all contracts, leases, renewals and work orders to action billing
  • Processes approved Contract cancellations and adjustments
  • Updates existing work in process Contracts
  • Posting AR invoices in AccPac
  • Ensures at all times the accuracy and quality of billing.
  • AR Collections on outstanding payments.
  • Investigate and resolve customer issues related to Contract billing.
  • Actions billing issues to operational departments and provides advisory services
  • Month end closing with tasks completed within a set deadline
  • Filing
  • Maintain and control cash receipts including making deposits at Bank.
  • Must have a vehicle to complete banking transactions.
  • Prepares weekly invoicing based on customized contract spreadsheets and computerized system

Other duties include:

Bi-weekly payroll processing assistance

  • Prepare and run bi-weekly payroll through High Line’s own Payroll software system
  • Prepare and pay government tax remittances

General Ledger:

  • Prepare and reconcile Canadian and US legislative sales tax returns as required on a monthly basis.
  • Monthly Bank reconciliation’s.
  • GL account data entry, reconciliation and analysis.
  • Assist with year-end audit processing.
  • To lead or assist in special projects as assigned.


  • Provide switchboard relief support and office administration assistance as requested.
  • Must be willing and able to work shifts as required.


  • University degree in Accounting, Finance with a minimum 3rd level CGA or equivalent.
  • Min. 5 years related experience in AR & AP,; experience in the software industry an asset.
  • Payroll processing an asset.


Computer Skills:

  • Prior experience with AccPac an asset.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel & Word skills.
  • Knowledge of AccPac is an asset

This is a full-time salaried position and qualifies for High Line Corp’s standard benefit plan. Starting salary is dependent on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
